Wife of Pittsburgh Steelers QB Dwayne Haskins arrested on domestic assault charge

Dwayne Haskins, a backup quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was injured by his wife in a domestic violence incident at a Las Vegas hotel, according to authorities.

According to a police report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Haskins and his wife, Kalabrya Gondrezick-Haskins, were staying at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino on July 3 when she punched him in the face.

According to court documents, Gondrezick-Haskins was charged with battery, which is a type of domestic abuse that causes serious physical harm.

Haskins told police that the pair was staying in Las Vegas and that they were going to various events with their buddies that night. According to the police report, he was heading to a nightclub and his wife was supposed to go to a "Magic Mike" concert with a different group.

Haskins irritated Gondrezick-Haskins since he was expected to wait for everyone to return to the hotel before heading to the nightclub, according to reports. Haskins told police that they got into an argument and that he doesn't recall how he was hit in the mouth.

However, when paramedics arrived, Haskins told a medic that his wife had punched him in the face, according to the police report. He also told a hotel security guard, "I want her out of my room, she hit me and cut my mouth open," according to the report.

According to police, Gondrezick-Haskins was enraged with her spouse because she had been shut out of their chamber for two hours. According to the report, she stated that she was unable to get in because her name was not on the reservation and that she did not have a place in which to prepare for the evening out since her name was not on the reservation.

Gondrezick-Haskins alleged that her husband got into a fight with another friend and that she fell to the floor, hitting her head, when she tried to intervene. She said she could not remember whether anyone battered her, although she said she had bruises on her legs and complained of head and neck pain, the report said.

According to the police report, "Kalabrya was given multiple opportunities to be truthful about what occurred throughout the interview." "She appeared to be withholding information, but she refused to elaborate."

Two witnesses told police that the couple was bickering and that one of them observed them shoving and pushing each other before collapsing to the ground. According to the witness, an unidentified male entered the room and exited, possibly a friend of Haskins.

Haskins was rushed to the hospital after suffering a cut lip and losing a tooth.

"The victim's lip required stitches, which was substantial in nature," the report said. "Dwayne's mouth appeared swollen and bruised and would most certainly require dental work to repair his teeth."

A representative for Haskins did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment Thursday. The Steelers also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In Gondrezick-Haskins' court papers, no attorney was indicated, and her contact information could not be obtained through a public records search.

After two seasons with the Washington Football Team, Haskins was hired by the Steelers in January as a backup quarterback.
